Glow Brick

Glow Brick

The Glow Brick has to be the next best thing to remote-controlled lighting. In fact we’ll stick our neck out and say that it’s even better because you don’t have to lift a finger to switch it on. A strangely lovely phosphorescent green light bulb is entombed in a clear acrylic brick which lounges about by day quietly soaking up solar energy then takes centre stage by night. At dusk the light starts glowing all green and mysterious showing an awesome staying power throughout the darkest hours. The overall effect is of a disembodied shining light bulb suspended in mid air which you’d have to agree is not something you see every day. On a functional level it makes a handy low-maintenance security light. On a frivolous level it’s a jolly nice talking piece for people who like to talk in dark rooms. 11×7.8×7.8cm No batteries required

Voice Control Helicopter

Posted by Notcot on Aug 4, 2012 in Gadgets
Voice Control Helicopter

So you’ve flown our other RC helicopters stormed the odd makeshift cardboard box base and have managed to get the theme tune from ‘Airwolf’ out of your head – what’s next? Voice Control that’s what! This ingenious Voice Control Helicopter responds to your commands and has five of them loaded in ready to obey your every aviation whim (though when we tried it out it didn’t seem to understand pop into the kitchen and grab me a Hobnob.). Simply pop the microphone set over your bonce (it looks a bit like a bluetooth headset) and get jabbering! You can command your heli-servant to: ‘start its engines’ ‘go higher and lower’ ‘to hold’ and ‘to stop’ once you’ve landed. Saying ‘stop’ in mid-air is not recommended unless you’ve got a very soft head and few pain receptors. Combined with that you can use the remote control to turn left and right and the in-built forward motion will make sure it’s headed in the right direction. From a self-preservation point of view there’s also a ceiling sensor that ensures you don’t have to avoid a falling helicopter as well. To top it all off there’s some cool LED lights and charging it up is super-easy via the handset. For any European friends you might have the helicopter will also understand commands in French or Spanish – clever eh? In short the Voice Control Helicopter is one of the most innovative helicopters at IWOOT addictive and extremely clever.

Fun Fly Stick

Posted by Notcot on Mar 26, 2010 in Gadgets

  • Includes 5 foil shapes! / Approx size: 31.5 cm x 5.5 cm x 2.5 cm
  • Requires 2 x AA batteries (not included) / Instruction book included

Product Description
The eyes have it – and at least in the case of this fabulous optical illusion, they may well be telling your brain something it does not want to believe – namely that a shiny shape appears to be levitating in mid air. Cripes. You’ll have onlookers genuinely astonished and amazed by it apparent magic. Only you will know the truth – the Fun Fly Stick has a clever miniature Van de Graaff Generator hidden inside it. But never fear, the Fun Fly Stick doesn’t have an electrical shock-type discharge and doesn’t produce sparks, so it’s safe (and more importantly won’t make your hair stand on end). Using the power of static charge to levitate and control foil shapes and other lightweight items, it really can make things fly. Special foil flying shapes such as butterflies, flowers, orbs and spheres are included and these can be guided through the air by the magic of the Fun Fly Stick. Now if you will excuse us, we have work to do. Anything said about us having a short attention span is most certainly not – oooooh… shiny…
