All Bottled Up

All Bottled Up

Possibly the best gift for wine lovers ever invented. Whether you’re taking a bottle round to dinner at a friend’s house or giving a good bottle to someone as a present this is probably the most ingenious puzzle solving challenge ever made. Will the lucky recipient be able to free the bottle from the puzzle? Instructions: simply remove the puzzle from the box replace the card bottle with your best bottle of plonk. Then follow the included instruction sheet to correctly place your bottle in the puzzle place it back in the box and hand it to the lucky recipient. At first sight it appears laughably simple to open but first impressions are deceptive. It’s hugely entertaining watching the recipient go from cocky to puzzled to deeply frustrated – especially whilst everyone else is chipping in with their advice… No loop that bit over there slip that toggle round the whatsit etc. The recipient will feel they deserve every last drop if they do finally manage to crack it. If they don’t aside from you crowing you can put them out of their misery as it does come with release instructions. All Bottled Up is an ingenious gift idea for that ‘perfect host’ and fits standard wine herb vinegar and olive oil bottles (for non-booze drinkers). It’s a great party piece and can be used again and again unless someone gets so frustrated they bring out the power tools. (Does not include bottle!) Features: ‘All Bottled Up’ puzzle Works with standard wine herb vinegar olive oil and pop bottles Includes wooden puzzle pieces linking cord and instructions Does not include wine! Includes instructions Please Note: Colours may vary. Size: Assorted puzzle pieces: largest 14.5 x 10 x 10cm smallest 3 x 2 x 2cm

CyFi Wireless Sports Speaker

Posted by Notcot on Dec 20, 2012 in Gadgets
CyFi Wireless Sports Speaker

Listening to your iPod while you’re doing something active (well more active than sitting on the bus) can be a traumatic experience. Fiddling with buttons and jostling the earphones into some semblance of a comfortable position while you’re in transit makes the whole process a bit of a bore for those who can’t exercise without a beat. The CyFi Wireless Sports Speaker makes it as easy as can be no matter your outdoor pursuit of choice. The key to the CyFi is its adaptability – as well as being a companion for your cycling commute it’s great for camping hiking boating… basically most things ending in ‘ing’. It’s the perfect thing for outdoor holidays relaxing round the campfire after a hard day’s trekking or for playing Duran Duran’s Rio while the boom comes overhead (what do you mean you’ve never seen that video?!). It comes with a clamp for fixing it to the handlebars of your bike so that your downhill descent can be suitably soundtracked as well and the sound quality is impressive. Buttons for changing the track and adjusting the volume mean that you don’t have to fiddle with the iPod in your pocket while you’re trundling along. Simply plug the dinky audio transmitter into your iPod press play and let the CD-quality CyFi do its thing. The speaker itself is light enough and small enough to pop in your coat pocket and it has a range of 30 feet (which should be plenty even if you find yourself dislocated from it due to tumbling into a ravine or whatever sporting injuries might befall you). You can sync up to 4 CyFi speakers for especially large groups of like-minded people and then pack it all away in the neat little carry pouch. Charging for 2 hours via USB will give you over 6 hours of listening time. So whatever you spend your outdoor time doing make sure you’ve got the Cy Fi in your pocket to keep the whole experience in tune.

100 Cult Films – Screen Guides

100 Cult Films - Screen Guides

i”?Some films should never have been made. They are too unsettling, too dangerous, too challenging, too outrageous and even too badly made to be let loose on unsuspecting audiences. Yet these films, from the shocking Cannibal Holocaust to the apocalyptic Donnie Darko, from the destructive Tetsuo to the awfully bad The Room, from the hilarious This Is Spinal Tap to the campy Showgirls, from the asylum of Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari to the circus of Freaks, from the gangs of The Warriors to the gangsters of In Bruges and from the flamboyant Rocky Horror Picture Show to the ultimate cool of The Big Lebowski, have all garnered passionate fan followings. Cult cinema has made tragic misfits, monsters and cyborgs, such as Edward Scissorhands or Blade Runner’s replicants, heroes of our times. 100 Cult Films explains why these figures continue to inspire fans around the globe.Cult film experts Ernest Mathijs and Xavier Mendik round up the most cultish of giallo, blaxploitation, anime, sexploitation, zombie, vampire and werewolf films, exploring both the cults that live hidden inside the underground (Nekromantik, Cafe Flesh) and the cult side of the mainstream (Dirty Dancing, The Lord of the Rings, and even The Sound of Music). 100 Cult Films is a true trip around the world, providing a lively and illuminating guide to films from more than a dozen countries, across nine decades, representing a wide range of genres and key cult directors such as David Cronenberg, Terry Gilliam and David Lynch. Drawing on exclusive interviews with some of the world’s most iconic cult creators and performers, including Dario Argento, Pupi Avati, Alex Cox, Ruggero Deodato, Jesus Franco, Lloyd Kaufman, Harry Kumel, H. G. Lewis, Christina Lindberg, Takashi Miike, Franco Nero, George A. Romero and Brian Yuzna, and featuring a foreword by cult director Joe Dante, 100 Cult Films is your ultimate ticket to the midnight movie show.

Stealth Speed Boat

Posted by Notcot on Sep 20, 2012 in Gadgets
Stealth Speed Boat

It may be Stealth in name but it’s far from stealth in nature as this twin motor speed boat screams along at an astonishing 30kmh! This big sexy black beast is 73cm long and all power. Unlike the petrol driven pro-RC models that take hours of tinkering with for just a few moments of enjoyment the Stealth Speed Boat will dash round your local pond at ludicrous speeds for up to half an hour from a single charge – no doubt terrorising all and sundry and leaving all other RCs (and quite a few ducks) floundering pathetically in its wake. The twin motors make steering amazingly responsive (it’ll turn on a dime) and a clever safety feature ensures that the props won’t spin when they’re out of the water – so you won’t be picking your fingers out of the pond. We’ve already said how fast it is but have we really got that across? Because even though we knew it was fast we had no idea what ‘really fast’ actually looked like until we saw this thing go. Heck if it had wings it would have taken off and the local hot shot ducks were depressed enough already without giving them even more of an inferiority complex. Of course aside from shaming the local wildfowl there was the sweet enjoyment of watching the RC nuts with their £100 boats turning green with envy and sulking over their thermoses.

Ewbank Steam Mop Rapid

‘Instant’ steam-on-demand for cleaning all round the home

  • This superb high-spec steam mop from cleaning experts, Ewbank, is a fast, effective and chemical-free way of removing stubborn grease, grime and stains from tiles, vinyl, sealed wooden floors and even outdoor decking and patios. And, thanks to its ‘carpet glider’, you can now clean your rugs and carpets with minimum fuss too. Unlike cheaper imitations from other manufacturers that take an age to warm-up, the powerful 1500W Rapid steam mop is ready to produce steam in just 60 seconds which can be released when you want it, where you want it by using the trigger. The large 750ml water tank provides 25 minutes usage – enough to get most jobs done without a refill – and the integrated water softener treats tap water to prevent a build-up of limescale which can reduce the efficiency of a steam cleaner.
